Sail Away Lesson Bundle

Inspired by sailboats, impressionism and sea life, these art lessons for kids beckon Summer!

Inspired by sailboats, impressionism and sea life, this bundle beckons Summer!

What's New:

This month's lessons are provided in a new format, and we'd love to know how you like it! Instead of a slideshow, we put all the step-by-step processes into colorful, printable handouts. This way, you and your kids can get creative and get off screen completely! However, the PDFs are of course easy to view on screen, if you prefer.

Art Supplies for this Bundle:

This month you can get creative in using different materials within the same artwork, such as watercolor, crayons, colored pencils, oil pastels...you name it!

All of the projects can be done with any material you like–so you can stick with supplies you already have.

If you're curious to try something new, the following supplies are featured as options in some of the lessons and are really, really fun:

Windor and Newton G0uache This material is like watercolor in many respects (dilutes with water, can make semi-transparent washes, is easy to clean up). But it's also buildable so you can get just a little impasto effect which we put to full use in our Van Gogh Fishing Boats project.

Water Color Pencils These are SO FUN. You just gently add color with what seems like a regular colored pencil, and then...if you brush over your finished drawing with a paintbrush dipped in water...you get an immediate and thrilling transformation, from drawing to painting!

Mixed Media Paper This month's bundle involves more drawing without templates, which means kids can work on sturdier paper that can handle wet media. I love this pad because the paper is big (I just cut it down to size if I want to work smaller) and versatile. It's not quite full-on, heavy-duty watercolor paper, but it's a great price point for high quality, and works perfectly for the projects we feature here.
